STORIES OF NATURE - online course

This special workshop is open to all and will be a time to connect with the Power of Story, the Power of Imagination and the Power of Words. It offers an opportunity to learn more about Deep Listening – listening to Nature, listening to Stories, listening to Soul.

In the shamanic worldview, stories are alive and have their own spirit. They are a magical and ancient way of learning from a deeper source. They are containers of sacred knowledge and can bring us hope and help us to find our way. Stories can talk about difficult issues in a way that encourages us to connect to the true meaning behind the words. They can help us to hear what matters and remember how to be human.

Many people feel a deep love for nature, and a deep passion for creating a better world. But how do we talk with Nature about what it wants - and needs? How can it support and inspire us? At this time of huge environmental challenge, we must listen to both human stories and the voices of nature. What do stones, plants, trees, rivers, sky, birds, insects, animals and the wind have to tell us? What do they want us to hear?

If we learn to listen to nature, we can share its stories with other humans, and make nature’s own needs part of the equation. Factual communication is not enough. Through the act of telling stories, we reach each other’s hearts and minds in an immediate and intimate way. Story creates a personal connection and helps to enable strong long-lasting bonds between humans, the living world and creation.

During this online workshop we will introduce different ways to open to Nature and hear what it has to tell us. We will get to know the nature of stories and find out how to work with them in everyday life. We will explore the power of Good Words, and their role in healing - for humans, communities and nature. We will find out how to let go of old stories and create new ones to bring inspiration to life.

** Please be aware that this is not a course teaching storytelling techniques or writing skills. It is a course about the role of Story in our lives; about coming into connection, listening and sharing, and how to receive stories from the living world in simple, powerful and sometimes surprising ways. It will be a time to find stories that move us and daring to share them with others.

************************************************************

This course is open to all. You do not need any previous training in working with stories, shamanism or nature. This is work that is open and accessible. It is, however, helpful to bring a heartfelt interest in stories and a curiousity and longing to be in connection with nature.

The course is taught as a webinar-style 2 hr session followed by an optional Story Circle. It is taught by Zara and Jonathan, in English and covers 6 sessions, every 2-3 weeks over the Winter months. It is possible to join the course even if you cannot attend all meetings.

FORMAT:
The 2 hr teaching sessions will introduce a range of approaches and practices to working with stories in Nature. Though mainly webinar-style, these sessions will also offer interactive exercises and opportunities to ask questions. Each week will have a different theme and bring a variety of crafts.

After the webinar there will be a short break, then we will move into the Story Circle space for those who wish. Zara and Jonathan will introduce the work for the week and offer guidance, then participants will join small independent breakout groups where they share with each other on different themes and exercises. Story Circle time will range from 30-60 min depending on the groups's wishes.

You can take part in the webinar only, or in both webinar and Story Circle. The price is the same. The Story Circle is offered as a free sacred space to hold and invite the Voice of the Earth. Although the Story Circle is optional, we highly recommend it as it is in these spaces where we learn to listen to Stories and practice how to share them. You can choose to take part in the Story Circle some weeks and not others, they are open and flexible so you do not have to decide ahead of time. When you join the course, you will receive more information about how the Story Circles will work.

If for some reason you are not able to come to all meetings, you can listen to the 2hr teaching webinar afterwards as an audio recording. These will be available until the end of the course.

In between meetings you will receive a range of materials and exercises to do at home, as you wish.
