FOREST SEIDR

Seidr, the old Nordic form of shamanism, is the source of inspiration for this course. Traditionally, the practitioners of Seidr used a combination of staff and ecstatic song as means for the soul to journey.

We will explore the main tools of the craft, the staff and the song, and we will practise Seidr together as a community ritual as well as in pairs and alone.

A special focus for our Forest Seidr is working with power. In the Seidr tradition we find ancient time-tested ways of dealing with power: “Sitting out” alone with our staff in nature we have the wonderful opportunity to learn directly from the power as it runs through the staff, as it wells up from the earth, and rides on our Seidr song.

In this way - with Forest and Seidr - we strengthen an essential aspect of our shamanic practice: Knowing how to let the power flow through us, how to apply it wisely, how to ground it.

The course takes place in a lodge on Mid Sjælland and the surrounding forest.

To participate you must have clear contact with your spirit allies or –teachers, and have completed introductory course The Shaman’s Journey or agreed equivalent. Seidr work is for both men and women.

Good preparation for seidr is singing, shamanic counselling, finding your staff, or befriending a powerplace in nature. You can read more about seidr in THE LEGACY OF SEIDR and KEEP IT CLOSE TO NATURE
